November 16—Apathy
The word for today is apathy.
“Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word” (Ps. 119:37).
“He will die for lack of discipline, led astray by his own great folly” (Prov. 5:23).
“All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty” (Prov. 14:23).
“One who is slack in his work is brother to one who destroys” (Prov. 18:9).
“The sluggard’s craving will be the death of him, because his hands refuse to work” (Prov. 21:25).
“But some days later, Felix arrived with Drusilla, his wife who was a Jewess, and sent for Paul, and heard him speak about faith in Christ Jesus. And as he was discussing righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix became frightened and said, ‘Go away for the present, and when I find time, I will summon you’” (Acts 24:24-25).
“And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: The Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God, says this: ‘I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I would that you were cold or hot. So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth’” (Rev. 3:14-16).
“And this do, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed. The night is almost gone, and the day is at hand. Let us therefore lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light” (Rom. 13:11-12).
Prayer: Lord, teach me how to number my days aright that I may gain a heart of wisdom. I am persevering and pressing on.
