But I trust in you, O Lord! I declare, “You are my God!” You determine my destiny! Rescue me from the power of my enemies and those who chase me. Smile on your servant! Deliver me because of your faithfulness!
The psalmist says, “I trust in you” and, “I declare, ‘You are my God!'” Why? Because “You determine my destiny!” You “Rescue me from the power of my enemies and those who chase me.” He then makes two requests of the Lord:
(1) “Smile on your servant!” and
(2) “Deliver me because of your faithfulness!”
The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace” (Numbers 6:24 – 26 NIV).
