August 27—Zeal
The word for today is zeal.
“Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds” (Titus 2:14).
“Jehu said, ‘Come with me and see my zeal for the Lord.’ Then he had him ride along in his chariot” (2 Kings 10:16).
“For out of Jerusalem will come a remnant, and out of Mount Zion a band of survivors. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this” (2 Kings 19:31).
“My zeal wears me out, for my enemies ignore your words” (Ps. 119:139).
“As to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to the righteousness which is in the Law, found blameless” (Phil. 3:6).
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this” (Isa. 9:6-7).
“For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge” (Rom. 10:2).
“For I know your readiness, of which I boast about you to the Macedonians, namely, that Achaia has been prepared since last year, and your zeal has stirred up most of them” (2 Cor. 9:2).
“So also you, since you are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek to abound for the edification of the church” (1 Cor. 14:12).
Prayer: Lord, may intensity, enthusiasm, excitement. and passionate Christlikeness be seen in me as I live for You today.
