December 14—Castaway
The word for today is castaway.
“You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard lest, being carried away by the error of unprincipled men, you fall from your own steadfastness” (2 Pet. 3:17).
“Nevertheless, with most of them God was not well‑pleased; for they were laid low in the wilderness. … Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall” (1 Cor. 10:5, 12).
“And He was saying to them all, ‘If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me’” (Luke 9:23).
“But there is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known. Accordingly, whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in the inner rooms shall be proclaimed upon the housetops” (Luke 12:2-3).
“It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God. … For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised” (Heb. 10:31, 36).
“Watch yourselves, that you might not lose what we have accomplished, but that you may receive a full reward” (2 John 1:8).
“Therefore, if a man cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work” (2 Tim. 2:21).
“And now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not shrink away from Him in shame at His coming” (1 John 2:28).
Prayer: Lord, I want to be able to say with the apostle Paul that I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.
