December 30—Example

The word for today is example.

“For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you” (John 13:15).

“Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall through following the same example of disobedience” (Heb. 4:11).

“As an example, brethren, of suffering and patience, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord” (James 5:10).

“Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven” (Matt. 5:16).

“Now these things happened as examples for us, that we should not crave evil things, as they also craved” (1 Cor. 10:6).

“So that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God” (Col. 1:10).

“Brethren, join in following my example, and observe those who walk according to the pattern you have in us” (Phil. 3:17).

“The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things; and the God of peace shall be with you” (Phil. 4:9).

Prayer: Lord, Paul’s words to the Philippians tells us how to get it done: “So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. Do all things without grumbling or disputing; that you may prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world.”
