December 31—Evaluation
The word for today is evaluation.
“Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test?” (2 Cor. 13:5).
“And this He was saying to test him; for He Himself knew what He was intending to do” (John 6:6).
“Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance” (James 1:2-3).
“But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup” (1 Cor. 11:28).
“The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tests the heart” (Prov. 17:3).
“But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold” (Job 23:10).
“But just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not as pleasing men but God, who examines our hearts” (1 Thess. 2:4).
“See, I have refined you, though not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction. For my own sake, for my own sake, I do this. How can I let myself be defamed? I will not yield my glory to another” (Isa. 48:10-11).
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” (Ps. 139:23-24).
Prayer: Lord, how can I know all the sins lurking in my heart? Cleanse me from hidden faults. Keep me from deliberate sins! Don’t let them control me. Then I will be free of guilt and innocent of great sin. May the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart be pleasing to You, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.
