December 9—Intimacy

The word for today is intimacy.

“But Ruth replied, ‘Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if anything but death separates you and me’” (Ruth 1:16-17).

“If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people” (Exod. 33:13).

“Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame. Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot wash it away. If one were to give all the wealth of his house for love, it would be utterly scorned” (Song of Sol. 8:6-7).

“Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings” (Ps. 17:8).

“Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken” (Ps. 62:5-6).

“Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you” (Ps. 73:25).

“By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit” (1 John 4:13).

“After David had finished talking with Saul, Jonathan became one in spirit with David, and he loved him as himself” (1 Sam. 18:1).

Prayer: Lord, thank You that You love us with an unconditional, everlasting love, and that You are drawing us to intimacy with lovingkindness.
