The word for today is lying.
“There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers” (Prov. 6:16-19).
“But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. … and nothing unclean and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life” (Rev. 21:8, 27).
“You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature; for he is a liar, and the father of lies” (John 8:44).
“A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who pours out lies will not go free. … A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who pours out lies will perish” (Prov. 19:5, 9).
“Therefore, laying aside falsehood, speak truth, each one of you, with his neighbor, for we are members of one another” (Eph. 4:25).
“Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices” (Col. 3:9).
“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32).
Prayer: Lord, thank You for the peace that comes to my heart in knowing it is impossible for You to lie.
