May21_PassionThe word for today is time.
“And this do, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed. The night is almost gone, and the day is at hand. Let us therefore lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts” (Rom. 13:11-14).

“Show me, O Lord, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting is my life. You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Each man’s life is but a breath. Selah” (Ps. 39:4-5).

“Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men, but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is” (Eph. 5:15-17).

“Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom” (Ps. 90:12).

“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it” (Ps. 118:24).

“And working together with Him, we also urge you not to receive the grace of God in vain—for He says, ‘At the acceptable time I listened to you, And on the day of salvation I helped you;’ behold, now is ‘the acceptable time,’ behold, now is ‘the day of salvation’” (2 Cor. 6:1-2).

The third verse of “Softly and Tenderly” is meaningful: “Time is now fleeting; the moments are passing, passing from you and from me. Shadows are gathering; death’s night is coming, Coming for you and for me. Come home, come home, You who are weary, come home.” Prayer: Lord, knowing that my time is wholly in Your hands, I am trusting You fully with the arrival of each minute. Help me not to waste it.
