The word for today is brokenness.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Ps. 34:18).
“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise” (Ps. 51:17).
“‘Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?’ declares the Lord. ‘This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word’” (Isa. 66:2).
“For this is what the high and lofty One says—he who lives forever, whose name is holy: ‘I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite’” (Isa. 57:15).
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you. Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you” (Ps. 32:8-9).
Life is a joy when you wake up every morning surrendered, broken, and ready to serve.
Prayer: Lord, the supreme desire of my heart is to be broken and spilled out and used up for Thee.
