The word for today is anger.
“Then the Lord said to Cain, ‘Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it’” (Gen. 4:6-7).
“Do not make friends with a hot-tempered man, do not associate with one easily angered” (Prov. 22:24).
“Idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions” (Gal. 5:20).
“This you know, my beloved brethren. But let everyone be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger” (James 1:19).
“But now you also, put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth” (Col. 3:8).
“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. … A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension, but a patient man calms a quarrel” (Prov. 15:1, 18).
“I will break down your stubborn pride and make the sky above you like iron and the ground beneath you like bronze. … If you remain hostile toward me and refuse to listen to me, I will multiply your afflictions seven times over, as your sins deserve” (Lev. 26:19, 21).
“Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not give the devil an opportunity. … Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice” (Eph. 4:26-27, 31).
Prayer: Lord, Your word says that “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.” Lord, I want to offer these sacrifices to You today.
