“The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to a man’s inmost parts” (Prov. 18:8).

“A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who pours out lies will perish” (Prov. 19:9).

“Blessed are you when men cast insults at you, and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, on account of Me. Rejoice, and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you” (Matt. 5:11-12).

“Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips” (Ps. 141:3).

“A false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers” (Prov. 6:19)

When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise” (Prov. 10:19).

“With his mouth the godless destroys his neighbor, but through knowledge the righteous escape” (Prov. 11:9).
