O Lord, you do not withhold your compassion from me. May your loyal love and faithfulness continually protect me!
The psalmist here sounds much like the prodigal son in Luke 15: “And he got up and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him, and felt compassion for him, and ran and embraced him, and kissed him” (Luke 15:20 NASB).
The psalmist concludes with a two-fold request: “May your loyal love and your faithfulness continually protect me!”
“For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favour and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless” (Psalm 84:11 NIV).
