November 10—Courage
The word for today is courage.
“‘Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.’ Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the presence of all Israel, ‘Be strong and courageous, for you must go with this people into the land that the Lord swore to their forefathers to give them, and you must divide it among them as their inheritance. The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.’ … The Lord gave this command to Joshua son of Nun: ‘Be strong and courageous, for you will bring the Israelites into the land I promised them on oath, and I myself will be with you’” (Deut. 31:6-8, 23).
“Be strong and let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. The Lord will do what is good in his sight” (2 Sam. 10:12).
“Rise up; this matter is in your hands. We will support you, so take courage and do it” (Ezra 10:4).
“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord” (Ps. 27:14).
“Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord” (Ps. 31:24).
“Therefore, keep up your courage, men, for I believe God, that it will turn out exactly as I have been told” (Acts 27:25).
Prayer: Lord, Paul’s words to the Philippians are on my mind: “according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I shall not be put to shame in anything, but that with all boldness, Christ shall even now, as always, be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.”
