November 3—Diligence

The word for today is diligence.

“Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life” (Prov. 4:23).

“Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless” (2 Pet. 3:14).

“Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth” (Prov. 10:4).

“Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in slave labor. … The lazy man does not roast his game, but the diligent man prizes his possessions” (Prov. 12:24, 27).

“The sluggard craves and gets nothing, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied” (Prov. 13:4).

“But be very careful to keep the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you: to love the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to obey his commands, to hold fast to him and to serve him with all your heart and all your soul” (Josh. 22:5).

“Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them” (Deut. 4:9).

“And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him” (Heb. 11:6).

“The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty” (Prov. 21:5).

Prayer: Lord, the cry of my heart today is that of the psalmist: “Oh! that my ways were steadfast in obeying Your decrees.”
