October 20—Lamb of God
The words for today are lamb of God.
“Abraham answered, ‘God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.’ And the two of them went on together” (Gen. 22:8).
“The next day he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, ‘Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!’ … and he looked upon Jesus as He walked, and said, ‘Behold, the Lamb of God!’” (John 1:29, 36).
“Now the passage of Scripture which he was reading was this: ‘He was led as a sheep to slaughter; And as a lamb before its shearer is silent, So He does not open His mouth’” (Acts 8:32).
“But with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ” (1 Pet. 1:19).
“And I saw when the Lamb broke one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying as with a voice of thunder, ‘Come’” (Rev. 6:1).
“And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even to death” (Rev. 12:11).
“These will wage war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those who are with Him are the called and chosen and faithful” (Rev. 17:14).
“‘Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready’ … And he said to me, ‘Write, “Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.”’ And he said to me, ‘These are true words of God’” (Rev. 19:7, 9).
Prayer: Lord, worthy is the lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing.
