October 23—Delay

The word for today is delay.

“I will hasten and not delay to obey your commands” (Ps. 119:60).

“Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes, and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest” (John 4:35).

“We must work the works of Him who sent Me, as long as it is day; night is coming, when no man can work” (John 9:4).

“And to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands, just as we commanded you” (1 Thess. 4:11).

“How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? After it was at the first spoken through the Lord, it was confirmed to us by those who heard” (Heb. 2:3).

“While it is said, ‘Today if you hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts, as when they provoked Me’” (Heb. 3:15).

“Come now, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow, we shall go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.’ Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away” (James 4:13-14).

“Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth” (Prov. 27:1).

“Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end” (Rev. 22:12-13).

Prayer: Lord, this is the day You have made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
