September 10—Manhood
The word for today is manhood.
“A faithful man will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished” (Prov. 28:20).
“Each man will be like a shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm, like streams of water in the desert and the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land. … But the noble man makes noble plans, and by noble deeds he stands” (Isa. 32:2, 8).
“But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart’” (1 Sam. 16:7).
“O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water” (Ps. 63:1).
“You are my portion, O Lord; I have promised to obey your words. I have sought your face with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise” (Ps. 119:57-58).
“Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway” (Prov. 8:34).
“Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding” (Prov. 3:13).
“Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always” (1 Chron. 16:11).
“I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found none” (Ezek. 22:30).
Prayer: Lord, the psalmist asks the question: “How can a young man keep his way pure? I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”
