September 29—Revival

The word for today is revival.

“Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your unfailing love, O Lord, and grant us your salvation” (Ps. 85:6-7).

“Come, let us return to the Lord. He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us; he has injured us but he will bind up our wounds. After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will restore us, that we may live in his presence. Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth” (Hos. 6:1-3).

“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. … Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me” (Ps. 51:10, 12).

“Restore us to yourself, O Lord, that we may return; renew our days as of old” (Lam. 5:21).

“And that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind” (Eph. 4:23).

“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Ps. 34:17-18).

“To whom he said, ‘This is the resting place, let the weary rest’; and, ‘This is the place of repose’—but they would not listen” (Isa. 28:12).

“Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the Lord, until he comes and showers righteousness on you” (Hos. 10:12).

Prayer: Lord, I come with David’s prayer on my lips: “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.”
