September 8—Test
The word for today is test.
“Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, ‘Abraham!’ ‘Here I am,’ he replied. Then God said, ‘Take your son, your
only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains
I will tell you about’” (Gen. 22:1-2).
“Test me, O Lord, and try me, examine my heart and my mind; for your love is ever before me, and I walk continually in your truth” (Ps. 26:2-3).
“Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test?” (2 Cor. 13:5).
“See, I have refined you, though not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction. For my own sake, for my own sake, I do this. How can I let myself be defamed? I will not yield my glory to another” (Isa. 48:10-11).
“But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold” (Job 23:10).
“Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing” (James 1:2-4).
“The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but man is tested by the praise he receives” (Prov. 27:21).
“Then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from [trial], and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment”
(2 Pet. 2:9).
Prayer: Lord, I want to be totally cooperative with Your testing program to make me more like my savior.
