August 20—Gentleness
The word for today is gentleness.

“And the Lord’s bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged” (2 Tim. 2:24).
“To malign no one, to be uncontentious, gentle, showing every consideration for all men” (Titus 3:2).
“But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy” (James 3:17).
“You give me your shield of victory; you stoop down to make me great” (2 Sam. 22:36).
“But let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God” (1 Pet. 3:4).
“This you know, my beloved brethren. But let everyone be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger” (James 1:19).
“Now I, Paul, myself urge you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ—I who am meek when face to face with you, but bold toward you when absent!” (2 Cor. 10:1).
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness” (Gal. 5:22).
“Servants, be submissive to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and gentle, but also to those who are unreasonable” (1 Pet. 2:18).
“He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young” (Isa. 40:11).
Prayer: Lord, my soul yearns for You in the night; in the morning my spirit longs for You.
