December 10—Blessings

The word for today is blessings.

“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace” (Num. 6:24-26).

“I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you” (Gen. 12:2-3).

“But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit” (Jer. 17:7-8).

“Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, ‘Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.’ And God granted his request” (1 Chron. 4:10).

“For surely, O Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield” (Ps. 5:12).

“He will receive blessing from the Lord and vindication from God his Savior” (Ps. 24:5).

“He will bless those who fear the Lord—small and great alike” (Ps. 115:13).

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ” (Eph. 1:3).

Prayer: Lord, I am reminded of the words of Jesus that blessing comes to the poor in spirit, to those who mourn, to the gentle, to those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, to the merciful, to the pure in heart, and to the peacemakers.
