December 21—Jesus
The word for today is Jesus.
“And she will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins” (Matt. 1:21).
“But Jesus was saying, ‘Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.’ And they cast lots, dividing up His garments among themselves” (Luke 23:34).
“And he was saying, ‘Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!’ And He said to him, ‘Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise’” (Luke 23:42-43).
“And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, ‘Father, into Thy hands I commit My spirit.’ And having said this, He breathed His last” (Luke 23:46).
“And Jesus said to him, ‘The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head’” (Matt. 8:20).
“When therefore it was evening, on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst, and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’ And when He had said this, He showed them both His hands and His side. The disciples therefore rejoiced when they saw the Lord. Jesus therefore said to them again, ‘Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you’” (John 20:19-21).
Prayer: Lord, I find myself singing, “There have been names that I have loved to hear, But never has there been a name so dear. To this heart of mine, as the name divine, the precious, precious name of Jesus. Jesus is the sweetest name I know, and He’s just the same as His lovely name, and that’s the reason why I love Him so; Oh, Jesus is the sweetest name I know.”
