November 22—Idolatry
The word for today is idolatry.
“For this you know with certainty, that no immoral or impure person or covetous man, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God” (Eph. 5:5).
“You know that when you were pagans, you were led astray to the dumb idols, however you were led” (1 Cor. 12:2).
“And do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written, ‘the people sat down to eat and drink, and stood up to play’” (1 Cor. 10:7).
“Little children, guard yourselves from idols” (1 John 5:21).
“For the time already past is sufficient for you to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, having pursued a course of sensuality, lusts, drunkenness, arousals, drinking parties and abominable idolatries” (1 Pet. 4:3).
“For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the Lord made the heavens” (Ps. 96:5).
“For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, he has rejected you as king” (1 Sam. 15:23).
“Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry” (1 Cor. 10:14).
“Or what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said, ‘I will dwell in them and walk among them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. Therefore, come out from their midst and be separate,’ says the Lord. ‘And do not touch what is unclean; And I will welcome you. And I will be a father to you, And you shall be sons and daughters to Me,’ says the Lord Almighty” (2 Cor. 6:16-18).
Prayer: Lord, since my heart is where my treasure is, I am setting my heart on things above, not on the things of this earth.
