October 11—Sowing
The word for today is sowing.
“As I have observed, those who plow evil and those who sow trouble reap it. (Job 4:8)
“Now this I say, he who sows sparingly shall also reap sparingly; and he who sows bountifully shall also reap bountifully. … Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food, will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness; you will be enriched in everything for all liberality, which through us is producing thanksgiving to God” (2 Cor. 9:6, 10-11).
“The wicked man earns deceptive wages, but he who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward” (Prov. 11:18).
“He who sows wickedness reaps trouble, and the rod of his fury will be destroyed” (Prov. 22:8).
“The sower sows the word” (Mark 4:14).
“For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations” (Isa. 61:11).
“Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes, and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest. Already he who reaps is receiving wages, and is gathering fruit for life eternal; that he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together” (John 4:35-36).
“Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy. He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him” (Ps. 126:5, 6).
Prayer: Lord, I want to be known as a faithful sower of the seed of the word of God, claiming Your promise that it will not return to You empty.
