October 14—Eternal Life

The words for today are eternal life.

“And behold, one came to Him and said, ‘Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may obtain eternal life?’” (Matt. 19:16).

“And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life” (Matt. 25:46).

“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains by itself alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. He who loves his life loses it; and he who hates his life in this world shall keep it to life eternal” (John 12:24-25).

“That, as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Rom. 5:21).

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom. 6:23).

“And this is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life” (1 John 2:25).

“And the witness is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. … These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, in order that you may know that you have eternal life. … And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding, in order that we might know Him who is true, and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life” (1 John 5:11, 13, 20).

“Simon Peter answered Him, ‘Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life’” (John 6:68).

Prayer: Lord, your words to Thomas bring such comfort: “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.’”
