October 13—Justice

The word for today is justice.

“For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just, so that the Lord will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him” (Gen. 18:19).

“David reigned over all Israel, doing what was just and right for all his people” (2 Sam. 8:15).

“Praise be to the Lord your God, who has delighted in you and placed you on the throne of Israel. Because of the Lord’s eternal love for Israel, he has made you king, to maintain justice and righteousness” (1 Kings 10:9).

“Does God pervert justice? Does the Almighty pervert what is right?” (Job 8:3).

“When justice is done, it brings joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers” (Prov. 21:15).

“Many seek an audience with a ruler, but it is from the Lord that man gets justice” (Prov. 29:26).

“I can do nothing on My own initiative. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me” (John 5:30).

“The Lord within her is righteous; he does no wrong. Morning by morning he dispenses his justice, and every new day he does not fail, yet the unrighteous know no shame” (Zeph. 3:5).

“He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God” (Mic. 6:8).

Prayer: Lord, I am meditating on Revelation 16:7 today: “And I heard the altar saying, ‘Yes, O Lord God, the Almighty, true and righteous are Thy judgments.’”
