October 4—Correction

The word for today is correction.

“You rebuke and discipline men for their sin; you consume their wealth like a moth—each man is but a breath. Selah” (Ps. 39:11).

“Does he who disciplines nations not punish? Does he who teaches man lack knowledge?” (Ps. 94:10).

“Correct me, Lord, but only with justice—not in your anger, lest you reduce me to nothing” (Jer. 10:24).

“My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in” (Prov. 3:11-12).

“Stern discipline awaits him who leaves the path; he who hates correction will die” (Prov. 15:10).

“Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline will drive it far from him” (Prov. 22:15).

“Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you punish him with the rod, he will not die” (Prov. 23:13).

“Blessed is the man whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty” (Job 5:17).

“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work” (2 Tim. 3:16-17).

“All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness” (Heb. 12:11).

Prayer: Lord, thank You for making available to us a spiritual trainer in the person of the Holy Spirit. He is teaching us all things.
