September 17—Debt
The word for today is debt.
“And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors” (Matt. 6:12).
“Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law” (Rom. 13:8).
“But if he has wronged you in any way, or owes you anything, charge that to my account; I, Paul, am writing this with my own hand, I will repay it (lest I should mention to you that you owe to me even your own self as well)” (Philem. 18-19).
“He who increases his wealth by exorbitant interest amasses it for another, who will be kind to the poor” (Prov. 28:8).
“Having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us and which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross” (Col. 2:14).
“And not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption” (Heb. 9:12).
“Knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ” (1 Pet. 1:18-19).
“Dishonest money dwindles away, but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow” (Prov. 13:11).
“He who works his land will have abundant food, but the one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty” (Prov. 28:19).
Prayer: Lord, what joy floods my soul knowing that my debt of sin has been fully paid at the cross.
