September 18—Counterfeit
The word for today is counterfeit.
“The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity” (Prov. 11:3).
“Holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; and avoid such men as these. … But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived” (2 Tim. 3:5, 13).
“And Jesus answered and said to them, ‘See to it that no one misleads you. For many will come in My name, saying, “I am the Christ,” and will mislead many’” (Matt. 24:4-5).
“How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! You said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High’” (Isa. 14:12-14).
“But Peter said, ‘Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back some of the price of the land?’” (Acts 5:3).
“For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteous-sness; whose end shall be according to their deeds” (2 Cor. 11:13-15).
Prayer: Lord, thank You for the victory You have already won over Satan at the cross and by the resurrection. I am declaring my total dependence upon You for victory today over this enemy of my soul.
