September 25—Darkness
The word for today is darkness.
“Some sat in darkness and the deepest gloom, prisoners suffering in iron chains” (Ps. 107:10).
“Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for the gracious and compassionate and righteous man” (Ps. 112:4).
“The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned” (Isa. 9:2).
“He has driven me away and made me walk in darkness rather than light” (Lam. 3:2).
“I saw that wisdom is better than folly, just as light is better than darkness” (Eccles. 2:13).
“If I say, ‘Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,’ even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you”
(Ps. 139:11-12).
“To open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, in order that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me” (Acts 26:18).
“And do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them” (Eph. 5:11).
“For He delivered us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son” (Col. 1:13).
Prayer: Lord, the psalmist says: “You brought them out of darkness and the deepest gloom and broke away their chains.” What joy it is to walk with You in the light!
