December 4—Armageddon
The word for today is armageddon.
“And one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls full of the wrath of God, who lives forever and ever” (Rev. 15:7).
“On that day I will set out to destroy all the nations that attack Jerusalem” (Zech. 12:9).
“Why are your garments red, like those of one treading the wine-press? I have trodden the winepress alone; from the nations no one was with me. I trampled them in my anger and trod them down in my wrath; their blood spattered my garments, and I stained all my clothing. For the day of vengeance was in my heart, and the year of my redemption has come. … I trampled the nations in my anger; in my wrath I made them drunk and poured their blood on the ground” (Isa. 63:2-4, 6).
“But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken, and then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory” (Matt. 24:29-30).
“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap” (Gal. 6:7).
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom. 6:23).
Prayer: Lord, thank You for the comfort that comes from Your words through Zechariah: “The Lord their God will save them on that day as the flock of his people. They will sparkle in his land like jewels in a crown. How attractive and beautiful they will be!”
