October 7—Examination

The word for today is examination.

“I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve” (Jer. 17:10).

“Test me, O Lord, and try me, examine my heart and my mind; for your love is ever before me, and I walk continually in your truth” (Ps. 26:2-3).

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” (Ps. 139:23-24).

“For a man’s ways are in full view of the Lord, and he examines all his paths” (Prov. 5:21).

“The Lord examines the righteous, but the wicked and those who love violence his soul hates” (Ps. 11:5).

“And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do” (Heb. 4:13).

“But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup” (1 Cor. 11:28).

“And this He was saying to test him; for He Himself knew what He was intending to do” (John 6:6).

“Each man’s work will become evident; for the day will show it, because it is to be revealed with fire; and the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work” (1 Cor. 3:13).

“So then each one of us shall give account of himself to God” (Rom. 14:12).

Prayer: Lord, Solomon’s words are on my mind: “The man of integrity walks securely, but he who takes crooked paths will be found out.”
